A. Course Duration:<\/b> 2 Days<\/p>\n

B. Aim:<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0This course provides training concentrating on the functionality and effective use of ECDIS on board.<\/p>\n

C. Objective:<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0After completing the course, the trainee will be able to demonstrate proficiency in the effective and safe operational use of the type specific ECDIS equipment, proper effective use of ECDIS-related information, awareness of ECDIS-related limitations and knowledge of legal aspects and reponsibilities related to electronic charts.<\/p>\n

D. Entry Standards:<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The course is designed for Main Officers in charge of a navigational watch and other deck Main Officers responsible for the safe navigation of the vessel and has completed training in IMO Model Course 1.27 “Electronic Chart Display and Information System”.<\/p>\n

E. Teaching Methods:<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The course is between presentations to familiarize the trainee with the menu structure and practical exercises on the actual ECDIS equipment to cement understanding.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0We conduct training on the following ECDIS makers:<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u2022 FURUNO FEA-2807\/2107\/2107-B<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u2022 FURUNO FMD-3100\/3200\/3300<\/p>\n

F. Course Certificate:<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Upon successful completion of the course and assessments, a document will be issued certifying that the holder has successfuly completed a course which meets or exceeds the level of knowledge and competence specified in Table A-II\/1-3 as related to ECDIS of STCW code (Manila Amendments).<\/p>\n
